My first saxophone instructional book addresses all the general
issues of learning the
saxophone I've come across in my 20 years of playing and over twelve
years of teaching privately. I've learned many shortcuts on my
own, from some of the best living saxophonists, and from some of the
greatest music institutions in the world.
I also wanted to address and simplify the basic elements of Jazz
Improvisation for ALL instruments,
not just the saxophone! But the main
reason I wrote this book was because I wanted to make the experience
of learning the saxophone as positive and painless as possible.
I also believe in emphasizing certain aspects of playing more than
others, for practical use in 'the real world'. This book can be used by beginning saxophonists as well as
professionals. I'm confident that my book will better the
lives of those who use it.
